5/24/05 - Another image of my iguana character, Getta Garbo, and Sabrina O'Neil's armadillo character, Emba. They're both a lot of fun to draw, though Getta is a pain to colour with all those stripes and headspikes, and other annoying small details. Still, I'm always pleased with the results, and this time much more than usual. I have to say, this is probably my favourite illustration to date. It was also a lot of fun after months of working on nothing but the webcomic.
Still, the image is not without its problems. Shading flat surfaces with solid shading is always a problem, and the empty seat to the right gave me a particularly hard time. I'm still not entirely pleased with the results.
I did the map of the underground routes seperately and of course when I placed it into the image the red "You are here" dot wound up directly behind one of Getta's headspikes.
I've considered moving towards more painterly backgrounds in the future, rather than making the entire image fully cel shaded. I think this will make my backgrounds look better overall. Still, I'll need to nab a Wacom tablet before that happens.
oh man i saw this on VCL an loved it i had completely forgotten you had a DA account X3
man getta and emba look so awesome together. they're both so cute :3
and hey i think this scene looks really cool.....and i really like how you did the background, even if you don't.
this pic is so sweet

Hehe, i love it. The whole scene looks really good, and the characters are so full of life! I'm definitely gonna check out the rest of your work man, great job!
Wow, and here I was about to file you amoung the living dead! Nice work, btw. If you ever do start a animation company, one, hire me as you sysman (I AM GOD HERE!) and Two, you will probably go far, if you can maintain this level of quality throughout.

In a glade of the swamp stood a grassy island, of perhaps an acre's extant, clear of trees and tolerably dry. On this now leaped and twisted a more indescribable horde of human abnormality then any but a Sime or an Angarola could paint. - HP Lovecraft
Oh very very nice work I'm surprised I hav'nt found you before. I think all cel shaded backgrounds look good, but its your choice in the end to change it or not.
You know.. looking at your art is catapaulting my brain leaps and bounds forward on what CAN be done with colours.
You want critique, but I have none to offer, so sorry bout that. Just like a lot of your work, this looks like a screencap of an animated movie.
